Six Fundamentals of Information Security
This eLearning awareness course is intended to allow individuals to recognize information
security concerns and respond accordingly using a set of six best practices provided
in this course. Throughout the course, students are provided with interactive
games and simulations designed to practice and reinforce the concepts that were
introduced.
Customizable. In certain sections of the course, organizations can
provide their own content to complement the concepts being taught, including:
- Examples of information assets that customers want their employees to pay extra
attention to
- Historical data documenting attacks (successful or not) against the customer or
their competition
- Password renewal period as required in the customer’s password policy
- Information for contacting security personnel.
Additionally, references can be added at the end of the course like the location
of internal policy documents, security-related links, emergency numbers and any
other resource related to the company’s information security effort.

This module deals with the consequences of security vulnerabilities and provides
real-world examples. It also provides basic information security definitions and
principles.

The steps to adopt a secure behavior
This module provides the six fundamentals of information security that should be
followed to minimize the risk of security breach:

Handling your organization’s information securely

Protecting mobile devices and storage media

Preventing intrusions into corporate facilities

with security compromises - stressing the importance of being proactive in helping
your organization protect its information assets

Choosing strong passwords makes it more difficult for an attacker to gain unauthorized
access to your organization’s network. However, strong passwords are usually
difficult to remember and might tempt you to write them down somewhere - and
thus neglecting important security best practices. In this interactive simulation
students can practice the phrase technique and learn how to create passwords that
are strong yet easy to remember
